Tech Note 1: Seal Design
QU20051 is a Unitized Oil Bath Wheel Seal that is designed so the inner sleeve rotates within the outer Seal Shell. This means the seal is a press fit on both the spindle and in the wheel hub. This design, in which the seal rotates within itself eliminates one of the most troublesome causes of wheel seal leaks with one piece conventional seals which often groove the spindle. QU50180 has the seal lip directly rotating and wearing on the spindle.

Tech Note 2: Leakage
Ford 10.25" Rear Axles use oil bath type inner wheel seals. Leakage past the seals is a common problem with this axle when using older design wheel seals. Other possible causes of leakage include a plugged vent hose and/or fitting which is the most common cause. Chronic leakage can often be traced to improper seal installation or a defective hub (seal bore is off center or damaged).
